And now for something completely different...

All surviving members of the comedy group Monty Python are reuniting for a stage show, founding member Terry Jones has confirmed.

The reunion is expected to be announced officially at a press conference being held in London on Thursday.

John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam, Michael Palin and Jones - who are all in their seventies - are all due to appear at the event.

The sixth member, Graham Chapman, died in 1989.

"We're getting together and putting on a show - it's real," Mr Jones told the BBC.

"I'm quite excited about it. I hope it makes us a lot of money. I hope to be able to pay off my mortgage!"

Eric Idle tweeted on Monday:
Only three days to go till the Python Press Conference. Make sure Python fans are alerted to the big forthcoming news event.

The troupe won a cult following with their zany TV series Monty Python's Flying Circus between 1969 and 1974.

They went on to make several hit films, including Monty Python And The Holy Grail (1975) and Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979).

The spin-off musical, Spamalot, based on the Holy Grail movie, has proved a hit on both Broadway and London's West End over the last decade.

The last time the five remaining members of the comedy group appeared together was in 1998 at the Aspen Comedy Festival.
